Take a spectacular nature trip to discover some of the best whitewater adventures on the planet. Home to the original World Rafting Championships, Costa Rica has the perfect combination of stunning landscapes and challenging waterways to offer unique river-rafting runs that all can enjoy.
Experienced rafters relish in careening down Class IV challenges while beginners appreciate the more manageable Class II and III rapids.
However you choose, your whitewater ride flows past magnificent mountains, lush rainforests and amazing natural beauty on its way to the mighty Pacific Ocean.
The Naranjo River is well suited for seasoned rafters, but accessible enough for bold beginners. Flowing from the mountains above Quepos to where Manuel Antonio Park meets the Pacific Ocean, the river mixes Class III and IV rapids with more-tranquil paddles through pristine scenery that abounds with wildlife. The half-day trip is perfect for family outings, group tours and individuals looking for adrenaline-loaded adventure.
For something a little less high-octane with rapids that still offer wild rides, the Savegre River is an optimal choice. A trip down the Savegre bounds through Class II and III rapids while traversing diverse landscapes. Paddle through deep canyons and around rocky bends, past sprawling palm plantations and jungle riverbanks. The full-day tour also allows time for a splash in a waterfall and a dip in a natural pool.
After your return from the river, there’s still plenty of time to hit the ocean with a personalized surf lesson. Some of Costa Rica’s top ex-pro surfers are ready to get you riding waves — even if you’ve never been on a board.
The waters of Jacó, Los Sueños and Hermosa are perfect for beginners and experienced surfers. We bring the boards, instructors, refreshments and transportation. All you need is a sense of adventure.
Still buzzing from your thrilling ride on the rapids, you can keep the good times rolling with an ATV ride through spectacular scenery. Starting at the foot of the mountains that back Jacó, the Tour de la Paz whips through dense rainforest and along mountaintop trails with stunning ocean views. You’ll stop at a towering waterfall and have the chance to take a 15-foot leap into a natural pool.
What better way to balance a day of whitewater action than with some tranquility before a sublime sunset? Join an English-speaking guide for a drive high into the rainforest to lookout points with sweeping views over shimmering Pacific waters. The setting sun puts on a fiery show over the Gulf of Nicoya to make your Costa Rica holiday the memory of a lifetime.

The maximum weight for adventurers on the whitewater rafting tours is 245 pounds.
Absolutely as safe as we can make them. We have guides with extensive experience, many are members of the Costa Rican rafting team. Each raft has a guide who will provide instructions before and during the journey. For additional safety, a kayaker will accompany the group close by.
We offer rafting tours in several parts of Costa Rica. The Savegre, El Chorro and Naranjo take place in Quepos (near Manuel Antonio). The Pacuare rafting adventure leaves out of the San Jose area in Turrialba. Rio Balsa and Rio Sarapiqui leave from the La Fortuna / Arenal area.
