Your Adventure Begins

Your journey kicks off with a convenient pickup from your La Fortuna hotel. A short, scenic drive brings you to La Naciente, where your expert guides will provide a safety briefing and driving practice before hitting the trails. If you're new to ATVs, don’t worry—our instructors will ensure you feel confident before we set off on the adventure.

Once you're ready, fire up your 4x4 machine and prepare for an incredible ride through twisting jungle paths, open fields, and dense tropical vegetation, with Arenal Volcano’s iconic silhouette looming in the background.

Conquer the Jungle

Charge through the thrilling trails of La Naciente, where the rugged terrain takes you deep into the rainforest. Navigate winding paths, climb rocky hills, and power through shallow streams as you take in the breathtaking natural surroundings. Keep your eyes open for colorful toucans, howler monkeys, and vibrant tropical flora as you weave through this untouched wilderness.

Our first stop is at Quebrada Platanillo, a pristine micro-basin of the Arenal River that supplies fresh water to the surrounding communities. Here, you’ll get a close look at the impressive Watusi bulls, a majestic breed known for their enormous, curved horns.

Incredible Volcano Views

We'll take a break from the action to enjoy some breathtaking views of Arenal Volcano, allowing you to recharge and fully appreciate the surrounding landscape. Capture the perfect shots for your Instagram while your knowledgeable guide shares fascinating stories about the history of Arenal Volcano and the charming town of La Fortuna. During these peaceful moments, you'll also learn about the area's diverse wildlife and native plants, including the exotic birds and monkeys that call the rainforest home.

Discover Rural Costa Rican Life

As we continue our ride, we’ll make our way to the charming village of La Guaria. This small, picturesque town is home to local “fortuneños” traditions and offers a rare glimpse into the culture of rural Costa Rica. Stop by the historic church and the traditional pulpería (local store), where time seems to stand still. This stop is a true highlight, allowing you to experience authentic Costa Rican life far from the tourist crowds.

Depending on the weather conditions, we’ll ride along open trails, crossing small natural puddles and expansive scenic stretches before reaching the Arenal River. This is the perfect spot to take a break, snap some amazing photos, and soak in the beauty of one of Costa Rica’s most iconic landscapes.

If river access is limited due to conditions, we’ll adjust the route for an equally spectacular scenic ride through alternative backcountry trails.

What to Wear

Dress for success on this excursion by choosing clothes you don't mind getting dirty - it’s going to be a wild ride, and the rainforest trails can be muddy. If you have a GoPro, bring it along to capture your thrilling adventure in first-person. If you don't have one, no worries - just ask your bilingual guide for a camera-mounted helmet before you set off on your adventure.
