Your journey begins at our Adventure Tours Costa Rica office in Jaco, where our friendly team welcomes you with everything you need to gear up and get going. After a quick orientation and safety briefing from your bilingual guide, you’ll get behind the wheel of your UTV to take it for a short spin and get familiar with the controls. With seatbelts, a steering wheel, and passenger seats, these side-by-sides offer comfort and confidence for both drivers and riders. Don’t hesitate to ask questions—your guide is here to help every step of the way.
Once everyone’s strapped in and ready to roll, we head straight into the jungle, climbing steep hills and maneuvering rocky trails that snake their way into the lush Agujitas Mountains above Jaco. This part of the ride is all about action—kicking up dirt, crossing shallow riverbeds, and weaving through thick forest corridors. At the top, the jungle gives way to an absolutely jaw-dropping view.
From the mountain’s peak, the ocean seems to stretch forever. Look south and you’ll spot the golden curves of Manuel Antonio. Out west, the jagged edges of the Nicoya Peninsula reach into the horizon. Turn your eyes north and the city of Puntarenas sparkles in the distance. You’ll have plenty of time to snap photos, catch your breath, and take in one of the best viewpoints in the region.
After soaking in the view, the ride continues along high mountain ridges, past wild vegetation and thick forest alive with birdsong. As we descend, the air turns cooler and the trail gets curvier, delivering just enough bounce and challenge to keep your adrenaline high. Our final stop brings us to Cascada del Zorro—a secluded jungle waterfall tucked away deep in the rainforest.
Though there’s no swimming pool here, the cool mist and cascading water are a welcome refreshment. Snap a few more pictures, splash some fresh water on your face, and take a moment to enjoy the sounds of the jungle before we head back down the mountain to base.
We offer both ATVs and UTVs, (Mules or Rhinos). Our ATVs are 4-wheeled, all-terrain machines with a bar seat and handlebars. ATVs can be used with up to 2 people: a driver and a passenger sitting front to back as you would ride on a motorcycle. Our UTVs are 4-wheeled, all-terrain vehicles that are similar to a small, open-air Jeep with a roll bar, steering wheel and 4 seats. UTVs may be used with up to 4 people sitting side-by-side, (two in the front, two in the back).
No, to ride on an ATV as a passenger have to be older than 5 years old. However, you can do the tour with the infant in their car seat in a Rhino/UTV.
