Meet Your Seasoned Captain

Trained by Maverick fleet Captain Daniel Espinosa, Captain Juan Carlos Fallas has been fishing these waters since he was a teen. His substantial time at sea has reeled in a host of tournament trophies including Overall Winner in the 2006 Los Sueños Billfish Tournament and a second-place win in the prestigious PCCA Costa Rica King Sailfish competition. Known locally as “Juanca,” Captain Fallas was also featured in a National Geographic profile for hooking a rare albino blue marlin that weighed in at 300 pounds.

Let’s get right to the gear. Among the high-tech gadgets, you’ll find a wide range of the latest equipment, including CHIRP sonar, Icom VHF radios and Garmin electronics with twin 17-inch displays on the bridge. There are two big fish boxes, a 60-gallon-capacity live well and eight tuna tubes on the transom. From downriggers for pro trolling and Rupp outriggers to Miya Epoch electric reels and a custom-designed fighting chair, a full range of world-class gear almost guarantees a day of plentiful catches.

While the gear aboard this Maverick is impressive, it’s luxuries are equally amazing. Walk along teak decks found across the vessel and pass through a mahogany door to behold an air-conditioned salon. There’s ample space to welcome up to ten guests.

From generous double dining areas to the bulkhead and trim throughout, the elegant area is awash with high-polished teak and flooded with natural light from wraparound windows. Both the main salon seating and adjacent dinette convert to daybeds.
