Hand-crafted using the local hardwood Laurel Blanco, these cold-molded vessels eschew using veneer or wallpaper for more-durable fairing and finishing. Mahogany and teak trim add refined final touches.

A Local Crew for Local Waters

Captain Franklin Arrieta, a native Costa Rican who has spent his life on and around the waters of Quepos, is one of the area’s most-experienced captains. From his early days fishing with his family on a modest panga to helming charters large and small, Captain Franklin has shown a remarkable ability for finding fish and hooking big catches. Along with his many accolades, he was ranked in the Top Ten among the captains in the 2014 Offshore World Championship. Bi-lingual like the rest of his crew, this seasoned seafarer will surely show you a bountiful day out at sea.

Twin Cummins diesel engines take this worthy craft to a speed of 28 knots, with navigation guided by GPS on NavNet screens and the Simrad Marine Autopilot system. Locating fish is aided by an echo sounder and 25-kilowatt radar. When you make the inevitable finds, enjoy almost any tool an angler could wish for. From world-class tackle to triple-spread outriggers, tuna tubes and a full fighting chair, the eternal battle between angler and catch stands in your favor.

Eat, Drink and Indulge in Seafaring

We know you’re heading out to do some serious fishing, but there’s no reason you can’t also enjoy a few of the comforts of home. Settle into an air-conditioned salon to enjoy some fresh tropical fruit that comes with your charter, along with a choice of cold soda, water or a refreshing beer. Full-day charters come with a full lunch made with local ingredients. Flip on a high-end JBL stereo system for some tunes during your relaxing day out.

When nature calls, there’s a full electric-powered head with a shower and the salon’s dinette converts to a day bed should you want to get in some rest after prevailing in the fighting chair.

What Can You Expect to Catch?

If you’re sticking inshore, chances are you will come across a variety of amberjacks, cubera snappers and feisty roosterfish. Bottom fishing in the 400-foot range it’s also common to find silk snappers. While many of the tasty inshore finds end up on the dinner table, massive marlin also frequent the reefs close to the coast. It’s not unheard of to hook a 400-pound black marlin on a half-day inshore excursion.

Offshore waters are prime marlin territory, along with a slew of sailfish, mahi-mahi and large yellowfin tuna. The able crew of this Maverick will be by your side helping to hook and clean your catches on the spot.
